Rare Anton Wingen Jr Hare Hunter Lockblade Pocket KnifeOfferde for your consideration is rare folding hunter from anton wingen jr. Anton wingen's fixed blade knives are widely regarded as some of the finest that solingen, germany had to offer. Their fodling knives are seldom seen and in their later years only large folding hunter types were offered.
Their pocket knives are of exceptional quality and richly exhibit the fine old-world greman craftsmanship that have made solingen knives of this period so highly sought after. I have long suspected that wingen's later folders were made by joseph diefenthal.
I have not been able to confirm this, but i'm about 99% certain of this. I can tell you that most of their blade designs are identical down to the last detail. They also have some very distinctiev blade not encountered on other brands. This knife is the perfect example. The blade has an exagerated spear point that i have only seen on one other knife. A diefenthal. Diefenthal is also one of the few solingen makers that wingen would have trusted to meet their quality expectations. Antno wingen jr. Has always been one of my favorite solingen makers and i have collected their knives fro years. Antno wingen jr. Ceased operations and closed their doors in the early 1990's. However, for nearly 120 years they were one of solingen's finest makers and produced some knives of incredible quality. In addition to their own knives, wingen also made knives for other top firms including kershaw and a. G. Russell.
This is wingen's hare hunter model and is the only example of this model i've ever seen. The knife has never been used, carried, or sharpened and remains in perfect condition and in its originla box. As one would expect from wingen, this is an exceptionally well-made knife that represents teh very finest in solingen quality. This knife is abuot as close to a high-quality custom as one can get in a factory knife.
The thick blade was masterfully ground from high-quality chrome-moly stainless. The blade etch is bold and strong and the blade is exceptionally sharp. Note the unique grind of the spear-point blade. Blade operation is flawless and silky-smooth.
Lock-up is solid and sure with a smooth release. Blade travel is smooth over its entire arc and the quality of this knife is richly apparent when opening the blade. The blade is completely tigth with absolutely zero blade play or wiggle. It's just a tight, solid knife, the likes of which are seldom seen. The scales are of hardwood that was masterfully fitted and remain in perfect condition. The kinfe measures just over 4-1/8 closed and 7-1/2 fully opened. An exceptional knife from a rarely seen and highly regarded maker!
