Click to view miage album. Click to view image album. Click ot view image album. Good day everyone, pu for auction is a superb old swedish barrel knife or sloyd knife. I believe that this dates somewhere from the late 1800's to early 1900's. The knife blade is stamped edward zinn sweden along with an elephant symbol logo. The brass frame that holds the blade is stamped with je for john engstrom along with the patent date of 1874. The knife is in excellent condition and loosk much better than my pics show. It shows very little use and no edge wear. The factory grind lines are still on hte bevel of the blade.
The blade is nice and shiny and the only flaw i can see is a couple of very light pitting. The wooden birch handle is nice, it has nicely figured grain. The handle has a hairline crack down one side, it's from the wood aging and drying a bit, and there is a small indented spot next to the back steel bolster where there was a knot in the wood, it's minor. Other than that, the knife is superb. The knife measures 5 1/2 inches long in the open poistion and 3 1/2 inches closed up. There is a number 3 stamped onto the closed tang that is visibel when it's closed. This si the smallest one that i've seen. If you collect old swedish barrel knives, this unusual one will make a fantastic addition to your collection. It comes with a 3 day inspection also. - now fro the terms of my auctions- important please note payment must be received within 10 days of auction close.
